Please, read all of it before you'll send me an e-mail, I'm sure most of your questions are answered here.. They're all based on real questions I'm getting.
//Can I use your artwork?
Yes, but there are several rules stated. Visit the
[info] section and be sure to read them all. Remember that using artwork without permission or credit given is a crime - it's called stealing (that's according to EVERY illustration on the internet unless the artist stated otherwise, if you didn't know).
//What about commissions, prints, originals and other stuff for sale?
Please contact me about all these.
//I can't find (...) on your site?
Use
the map.
//Do you share some tutorials, tips how to draw, work in progress pictures?
Yes, there is a special section for that, visit:
[tutorials].
//Can I link you?
Sure, I'll be delighted if you do :). Visit
[link me] to find my banners.
//Do you do link exchanges?
If I like your site (note that the content doesn't really matter to me, only the site has to be intresting and nicely done). And after you'll place my banner on your website. Please bare in mind that it may take me a while to get back to you though.
//How long have you been drawing? Have you ever studied art?
Doodling? All my life. Seriously drawing? I started really trying in summer 2003 (just because my first university exam session started and I needed something else to occupy my mind with ;)). At this time I started working on all my flaws and, well, I work on them to this very moment. It's a constant process.. I started working as a freelance artist around 2004 when I got first serious commmissions.
I didn't finish any proper art course. I'm a self-taught amateur, although I decided to start a graphic course in october 2005.
//Can you give me some personal advice about drawing or can we just talk?
Yes, in general. It can take me some time but I'll get back to you for sure if your e-mail was wrote in a normal language (yes, you can call me an old looser, but
I will NOT reply to e-mails written "li3k th4t, cuz its n0t k3wl", same goes for rude tone and such).
//Any general art related tips you can share?
Sure. Learn to see. I'm not kidding. The moment you can really see your mistakes is a big one. Also - learn to accept honest and constructive critique. If twenty people told you the arm looks wrong it most probably looks wrong. It doesn't mean they're not smart enough to appreciate your "stylisation". Also, no matter if you want to be a manga, a cartoon or a fantasy artist, real life drawing IS what makes you better. Stylisation is what comes next, not before that. As an additional tip - being ignorant is a sin. It may seem pointless to you at first (
"hey, I just want do draw little emo furry nightmares!"), but reading about history of art and art in general will help you a lot.
//What tools do you use?
Traditional media: ink, pencils (most of my works start in pencil even when I finish them digitally) and when I really have to paint something in color it will be acrylics, oils and crayons, markers. I have a thing for pastels too. Basically the cheapest stuff you buy in malls, markets etc.. I don't give a damn about the company name.
Digital media: tablet - currently Wacom Graphire 3 (size A6), Adobe Photoshop CS2, Corel Painter X, Adobe Illustrator & other.
//How do you color?
I just paint 90% of everything with standard Photoshop brushes, changing their opacity and flow constantly, usually on scanned pencil sketches (in Painter I use mostly Pens (Scratchboard Tool or Fine Point) and Tinting (Basic Round), I also use Painter's blenders and Palette Knife occasionally). Really, I use no special filters - I just draw it. And I don't have one 'method' of colouring. I just experiment 'till I'm quite satisfied with the result, often creating custom brushes for the picture as well.
//Do you do collabs?
Rarely. When I have enough time I can colour your lineart. And when I like it. Just send me an e-mail if you really want, I'll answer you for sure.
//Are you drawing any requests/pics for free?
When you'll buy me a beer or two ;) But seriously - no. I hardly find enough time to draw pictures for fun. You can always try to ask me, I don't bite =3.. maybe I'll agree if I really like your character.. but can't promise anything.
//Who are you in real life, what inspires you etc?
Just check my
[profile] section, please. As for inspiration, honestly, I don't know any person who would give you reply other than: everything. Yes, everything. If you feel uninspired browse some art websites, save what's interesting for you in a folder. I have few folders like that, not to copy the pics from there, but just to get some ideas when I feel blank. Read a book, go for a walk and watch stuff around. You know, just do something else than sitting and thinking "gosh, I'm so uninspired". It will work, I assure you.
//Okay, so you live in Poland, why there's no polish version of this website?
I don't have enough time to manage this site in 2 language versions. Not to mention only less than 13% of visitors here are from Poland. But I hope this site is clear enough to be readable for those who don't know english very well.
//There is a pop up on your website and some links are broken etc.
I'm aware of the pop up, hate it and work on removing it. Also - please inform me about broken links, spelling mistakes and such if you feel like to, I'll appreciate it - english ain't my first language and some links become outdated sometimes, so very often I just don't notice it.
